SHADOW WARRIOR SPECIAL RULES

All Shadow Warriors are subject to the following rules.

Hate Dark Elves: All members of the Shadow Warrior warband (excluding Hired Swords) have an undying hatred toward all Dark Elf Models.

Excellent Sight: Elves have eyesight unmatched by mere humans.  All Elves can spot hidden enemies at twice their Initiative.

Distaste for Poison: The use of Poisons and Drugs is a specialty of Dark Elves and is therefore frowned apon by Shadow Warriors (even more so than by other High Elves).  Shadow Warriors may not use Poisons or Drugs of any kind (other than their fine Elven Wine).

Distaste for Black Powder: Elves find Black Powder weapons to be to dirty, slow and destructive to be of any real use.  Elves may never use Black Powder weapons.

Unforgiving: Shadow Warriors have a long history of fighting the forces of Chaos (in addition to their Corrupt kin). Shadow Warriors may never ally with warbands of a Chaotic nature (eg. Possessed, Skaven, Undead, Beastmen, etc.).

Tolerant:  Due to their status as Outsiders (even among their own people) the Shadow Warriors have learned to tolerate some of the “lesser races”.  Shadow Warriors may hire any Hired Swords that are not chaotic or evil in nature or that use poison (such as Assassins).

Heroes

1 Shadow Master

70 gold crowns to hire
Shadow Master is an honorable title among Shadow Warriors.  It is given to one who has fought in the Shadow War for so long that he rules the darkness he fights from.  Often a former member of Nagarythe nobility, these proud and strong warriors often gather a small band of their followers and seek a life away from the hesitant charity and distasteful stares of Ulthuan.

0 – 1 Shadow Weaver

55 gold crowns to hire
All High Elves have some aptitude for magic, but those with the greatest aptitude are taught how to bend the Winds of Magic to their will.  Shadow Weavers are the mages of Nagarythe.  Due to the nature of their unending war against the Dark Elves, the Shadow Weaver specializes in magics that manipulate the shadows and help their comrades to strike fast, then fade away.

0 – 3 Shadow Walkers

45 gold crowns to hire
Lieutenants of the Shadow Warriors, these warriors are considered to have made friends with the shadows.  While he does not command the shadows, some say he can ask them for aid.  He is trusted by the Shadow Master and leads in his stead.  The best of these warriors will one day achieve the rank of Shadow Master.

0 – 10 Shadow Warrior Novices

30 gold crowns to hire
These are untested Shadow Warriors, newly inducted into the warband.  Often these warriors are the younger cousins of seasoned warriors who are setting out from Ulthuan for the first time.  Due to their hard existence, it is often a quick progression from Novice to full Shadow Warrior.

SHADOW WARRIOR SPECIAL SKILLS

Infiltration: A Model with this skill may be placed anywhere on the table as long as it is out of sight and at least 12” away from any enemy models.  If both players have models that infiltrate, roll a D6 for each, the lowest roll sets up first.

See in Shadows:  The warrior’s senses have become especially keen from years spent walking the shadows. As long as he has movement to reach them, the warrior may always roll to charge opponents he cannot see (instead of the normal 6”).

Shadow Walk: Over time, Shadow Warriors learned how to freeze in place and remain undetected, even to the heightened senses of their Dark Elf cousins.  An Enemy model attempting to detect this model while he is hidden must halve his Initiative before measuring distance.

Sniper:  Long years of guerrilla warfare against the Dark Elves have taught Shadow Warriors how to remain hidden, even when firing a barrage of arrows. A model with this skill can fire bows, longbows and Elf bows while hidden without revealing his position to the enemy.  The target can make an Initiative check to try and spot the shooter (if he survives the shot).  If the test is successful the shooter is no longer hidden.

Powerful Build:  Though Elves are not known for their feats of Strength, some are stronger that others.  This Elf may choose to take Strength Skills when they roll a New Skill on the Advance Chart.  Only two members of the warband may ever have this skill at the same time.

Master of Runes: Only the Shadow Weaver may take this skill.  The Shadow Weaver adds +1 to his roll when using the Elven Runestones to attempt to dispel an Enemy Spell.

SHADOW MAGIC

1            Pool of Shadow                                                                                                Difficulty 7

This spell allows the mage and all of his comrades within 6” to hide, exactly as if there was a wall or other obstruction between them and their enemies, even if they shot a missile weapon or ran this turn. This spell lasts until the start of the Shadow Weaver’s next turn or until an enemy enters the area of effect.

2            The Living Shadows                                                                                    Difficulty 7
The Shadow Weaver may cast this spell on any enemy within 12” of him and 2” from a wall.  The target suffers a single Strength 4 hit with no armour save.

3            Wings of Night                                                                                                Difficulty 6
The  spell may only be cast if the Shadow Weaver is within 2” of a wall.  He is instantly moved up to 12” away as long as it is within 2” of a wall.  If the Shadow Weaver is moved into contact with an enemy he counts as charging.

4            Cloak of Darkness                                                                                    Difficulty 7
The Shadow Weaver is completely concealed from enemy sight.  As long as he does not attack or cast spells he may not be targeted by the enemy (by attacks, spells, prayers, etc.).  He may intercept charging enemies (ending the spell), but may not be charged himself.

5            Shadowbind                                                                                                Difficulty 9
Target on enemy model within 18” and 2” from a wall.  Now and during his Recovery phase, the target makes a Strength test on D6+1, if he fails he is unable to move, attack or cast spells.  If he is attacked while affected, treat the target as stunned.  This spell lasts until the Strength test is passed, the Shadow Weaver suffers a Wound or attempts to cast another spell.

6            Shield of Shadow                                                                                    Difficulty 7
This spell may be cast on the Shadow Weaver or another member of his warband within 12”.  The target receives an armour save of 5+ that cannot be modified by attacker’s Strength.  The spell lasts until the start of the Shadow Warrior’s next turn.
